What to do if you break a clients property
Unfortunately, things can break.
Please follow the following process if something is broken.
If the customer is at the premises, you will need to explain what happened to them in person.
If the customer is not at the premises, Beyond Cleaning Group will contact them.
You then need to call the Beyond Cleaning Group office to explain what happened.
The broken item needs to be cleaned up. Do not dispose of the item. It must be bagged up or gathered and left for the owner, in case it is sentimental and can be fixed.
Never conceal the fact that you broke something,
as that will make the situation worse.
Ensure your shoes are clean before entering a premisis to avoid staining carpets and rugs.
Wipe your shoes thoroughly after using bleach-based products. Exit mold and domestos on shoes can bleach bath mats and worse, carpets.
Do not leave wet cloths on timber surfaces. The wood will swell.
Do not use lots of water on laminate floors. The edges will swell.
NEVER use boiling water to mop. It is a health and safety hazard that can cause burns if spilt, and when combined with a bucket without wheels, it can damage floors, as seen above (right).
Use this kind of bucket to avoid any kind of damage, especially to wooden floors. Ensure that wheels are well-maintained as poorly maintained equipment or jammed wheels can scratch the floors, requiring sanding and recoating to rectify.
Wood floors cost thousands of dollars to sand and seal. Don't risk it.
Some vacuum heads can scratch floors.
Use a soft bristle floor tool. Contractors can purchase them at Rapid Clean in Alstonville or on eBay. Employees will be provided with the correct tool.
Wood floors can be damaged by essential oils. Beware. Don't use essential oils on wood floors.
Do not use bleach-based products near laminate benchtops, fabric and any other potentially fragile surface. Better yet, remove bleach from your cleaning kit completely.
Do not use steel wool, an abrasive scourer or abrasive product on laminate benchtops. The colour will be damaged and not repairable.
Never use scourers on fridge doors. It can scratch the sensitive, buffed stainless steel surface.
Do not carry rubbish bags with liquid waste around the premises. Leaking bags can stain rugs and carpet.
Avoid leaving garbage bags where animals can get to them. Dogs and wild birds love garbage! Kitchen rubbish should be taken from the kitchen directly to outside bins.
Do not tap the toilet brush on the bowl after scrubbing a toilet. This can crack the toilet bowl. Shake the brush inside the bowl.
Do not slide furniture on sensitive (eg. wood) floors. If furniture needs to be moved to clean behind, two cleaners must be booked to lift heavy items.
