Cleaning Requirements

Job Length

Some cleaners think that because they 'work faster', they can finish early. What they don't realise is that other cleaners that may take longer are often doing a more thorough job and finding extra tasks to do, to go above and beyond for their customers.

You must stay at your cleaning job for the allocated amount of hours. You cannot leave early, even if you think you have 'finished the cleaning'. A good cleaner knows that cleaning is never finished. There is always something else to clean. If you feel that you have 'finished' the job before your hours are up, you must find more cleaning to do to fill in the hours.

Time management is important. If you think you are going to go overtime on a job, contact the office to seek approval for extra time. Extra time is not paid unless approved by client and BCG office.

BATHROOMS

Vanity

✔️ Clean sinks including sink holes

✔️ Polish tapware

✔️ Spray and wipe all surfaces - including underneath all items on the bench

✔️ Clean mirrors (streak-free)

✔️ Clean outside of cabinets and drawers

Toilet

✔️ Clean outside of toilet, including behind and around

✔️ Clean walls beside toilet

✔️ Scrub inside of the toilet

✔️ Clean toilet paper holder and paper fold neatly

Shower

✔️ Kill all mold

✔️ Clean showers screens and tiles

✔️ Clean shower floor

✔️ Clean tapware and shower head

Bath

✔️ Clean all dust and grime off bathtubs

✔️ Clean inside sink holes and polish tapware

Other

✔️ Empty bins (including wiping it out and replacing bin liners if used -client supplied)

✔️ Clean all surfaces (towel rails, baseboards, furniture)

✔️ Sanitise light switches and doorknobs (especially during flu season)

✔️ Clean window ledges

✔️ Vacuum and mop all floors (including behind doors. Floors must not be left too wet).

KITCHENS

✔️ Empty bins (including wiping it out and replacing bin liners if used -client supplied)

✔️ Fridge - Spot clean fridge door, open and clean the lip at the bottom of the fridge, spot clean fridge shelves

✔️ Spray and wipe all surfaces - including underneath all items on the bench

✔️ Wipe down outside of appliances and inside of the microwave

✔️ Stovetop - thorough clean

✔️ Oven - Wipe the front, scrub inside of the oven door and the bottom of the oven. Clean the lip in between door and oven of all crumbs.

✔️ Sink - thoroughly clean sink including sinkhole, removing any debris and stains on stainless steel. Cream cleaner is good for this.

✔️ Spray and wipe outside of cabinets and drawers

✔️ Sanitise light switches and doorknobs (especially during flu season)

✔️ Spray and wipe all furniture

✔️ Clean window ledges and spot clean windows with splashes above sinks

✔️ Remove cobwebs (best done with a vacuum cleaner)

✔️ Vacuum and mop all floors including pantry floor (including behind doors. Floors must not be left too wet).

WEEKLY AND FORTNIGHTLY CLEANS WILL INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING TASKS ON ROTATION OR AS NEEDED

✔️ Clean doors, especially around handles

✔️ Wipe architraves and skirting boards

✔️ Clean door and window jambs

✔️ Wipe the top of the fridge

✔️ Clean all shelves inside the fridge

✔️ Clean metal racks from the top of gas stoves (you can put them in the dishwasher and wash on intensive mode)

✔️ Remove range-hood filters and clean (put in the dishwasher on intensive mode, or by hand with soap and hot water)

✔️ Periodically (6 months or when requested) complete a full oven clean

✔️ Wipe inside draws and cupboards (never open bedside tables or office cabinets)

✔️ Clean inside washing machine where soap and dirt builds up

✔️ Periodically wipe blinds & other window furnishings

✔️ Vacuum under couch cushions

✔️ Clean & condition leather couches (client must supply leather cleaner and conditioner)

✔️ Clean fans

✔️ Clean window and sliding door tracks

✔️ Spot clean walls

✔️ Clean behind furniture. Avoid moving anything over 20kg. Take care not to scratch floors. Two cleaners must be booked to move heavy furniture.

✔️ Use a long duster to wipe under furniture that the vacuum and mop won’t fit under

✔️ Clean windows and fly screens inside and outside (ground floor only)

Domestic Cleaning Tips

BEDROOM, LIVING ROOM AND ALL COMMON AREAS

✔️ Quick de-clutter of floors

✔️ Spray and wipe all furniture

✔️ Dry-wipe of electronics

✔️ Clean window ledges

✔️ Sanitise light switches and doorknobs (particularly during flu season)

✔️ Tidy and present couch cushions and beds or make beds with fresh linen (upon request)

✔️ Empty bins and clean inside

✔️ Clean cobwebs (best done with vacuum)

✔️ Vacuum and mop all floors (including behind doors. Floors must not be left too wet).

Commercial Cleaning Tips

COMMERCIAL OFFICE SPACES, WORK DESKS, FOYERS, ETC.

✔️ Wipe desks but don't move papers, don't wipe under papers as they can stick to a wet desk

✔️ Spray and wipe all furniture - check and wipe chair backs, chair bases, etc

✔️ Dry-wipe of electronics. If necessary, carefully use a lightly damp cloth on electronics.

✔️ Clean kitchenettes, but don't do their dishes

✔️ Top up hand towel, soap and toilet paper dispensers as needed

✔️ Clean window ledges

✔️ Sanitise light switches and doorknobs (particularly during flu season)

✔️ Empty bins and clean inside

✔️ Clean cobwebs (best done with vacuum).

✔️ Thoroughly vacuum carpets and vacuum and mop all floors (including behind doors. Floors must not be left too wet).

✔️ Ensure to lock up properly

General Cleaning Tips

💦 'Clean-to-dry' - Leave all surfaces clean and dry, free from moisture.

✨ Shiny surfaces should be streak-free - check it from all angles and check again when you enter the room to vacuum and mop.

✋ If you can pick it up with one hand and clean with the other, it must to be moved.

🗄️ Cleaning inside of draws is fine. Don't open bedside tables, bedroom dressers or office drawers. If you see something you shouldn't, close the drawer and don't open it again.
